No Signal error
« on: April 06, 2009, 12:55:24 PM »
Hi all,
I've just gone about formatting and reinstalling Vista Home Basic 64 on this PC, and I'm having some issues getting some decent drivers for my 8800GTS.
I'm currently having to use 175.16, as with anything newer I get one of two problems:
1) I get the green Knight Rider style Vista loading screen, then the monitor puts up a notice saying "No signal" and puts itself in to standby.
2) The monitor does the same, but it waits for 30 seconds after I've logged in. This one has me completely stumped.

With regards to 2), I've been through msconfig and disabled services and start up bits to see if it was some applet packaged with the drivers. It wasn't.

Now, the problem with 175.16 drivers that I'm currently using is that I can't play L4D. It does the Steam pre-loading thing, then BSoDs, spouting something about nv4_mini.sys. Also, using the 175.16s, I get a Vista Experience rating of just 1, which is the performance in 3D rendering part (the Aero part is 1.9, somehow).

I remember that I had to be careful as to which drivers I had installed previously, as I'd get the same error, but at least I was able to play games.

If anybody can help with this, I'd greatly appreciate it!
